The First Annual.....Worst Beers of 2024!

I     have always done a beer year in review of the five best beers of the year. But I thought for fun not only will I do the five best beers (check out my other list), and now I will do the worst beers of the year. To clarify I will only list beers of C rank or lower. A S to B rating is too good a beer to call it the worst of anything. So that only leaves us 4 beers that fell below a B- rating. So let's review those anyway!

#4:

Name: Hazy Like a Fox
Type: IPA
Brewer: New Realm
ABV: 6.5%
Grade: C+

From the Brewer: Hazy like a fox, our first hazy IPA, is double dry hopped with El Dorado and Azacca hops to provide juicy, pineapple and tangerine flavors. Brewed with a blend of pale malt, oats, wheat, and flaked barley, it pours a pale gold with an opaque haze.

My Thoughts: Very fruity and sweet. Not my jam but some folks would probably love it.

#3:

Name: Another Way to Rye
Type: Rye IPA
Brewer: Turtle Anarchy
Location: Nashville, TN
ABV: 6.0%
IBU: 60
Grade: C
From the Brewer: A bold rye, India pale ale with added spiciness from a healthy addition of rye malt, contributes a nice red hue in color. This IPA has a pronounced citrus hop aroma and flavor.

My Thoughts: I was a little disappointed in this beer. Not because I think it’s bad. But I love the taste of rye. So I was hoping for a shot of that in the beer. But try as I might I could not taste it. Must be really subtle. It is a decent beer, but not the rye shot in an IPA I was hoping for. Still kudos to them for making it!

#2:

Name: Satan's Pony
Brewer: South Street Brewery
Type: Amber Ale
ABV:5.3%
Grade: D
From the Brewer: Named after a Triumph motorcycle. It contains Scottish ale yeast! It's an amber ale with malt complexity.

My Thoughts:  Smooth and easy to drink. Forget Bud Light. Drink this instead. Still that being said, not a beer connoisseur's beer if you know what I mean.

And finally the wall of shame's #1

Name: Majestic Mullet
Type: Golden Ale
Brewer: Parkway Brewing
Location: Virginia
ABV: 5.6%
IBUS: 28
Grade: F
From the Brewer: Majestic Mullet is a golden ale with notes of cereal and grain. Balanced by hints of floral hop aroma and an accentuating bitterness, the nuances of the yeast add a fruity, vinous note.

My Thoughts: Awesome name. Gross beer. I'm not a lager guy. And I always complain I want more flavor in my lagers. But good lord, this is not what I meant. Tastes very odd. Almost a sickening flavor. I don't love it even a little bit! But still, not as bad as Bud Light. I don't recommend it though.

So there you go. The beers to avoid for 2024! Uh in 2025! See you next year!
